June is a Hollywood actress whose current show is not being renewed. She’s struggling to meet her rent payments in L.A. when she receives a cryptic message from a law firm about a property she once rented in New York City. After flying back to New York for a musical audition and a meeting at the law firm, June is shocked to discover that her former landlord has left the property to her and Adam, an up-and-coming chef. The paperwork won’t be finalized for a month, but they are free to stay in the apartment until then. With nowhere else to stay, June and Adam move in and sparks of both the good and bad type begin to fly. Will June stay in New York to pursue the stage (and Adam!) or return to her Hollywood career? This story yanked me in from the first page with its sympathetic and multi-layered characters and its exploration of career and romantic dreams. I loved the ending which was just a touch different from what I expected, but made all the difference in reader satisfaction. Run, don’t walk, to the bookstore for this one!
